To be honest, we've been somewhat dissatisfied with the recent editions of Milan Design Week. Too much noise from big brands fighting for attention, too many presentations and activations that just feel empty, and not enough focus on the things that actually matter – including emerging talents.

The curation of "A Moment of Absence" challenged all of those issues, staging a small office space in eastern Milan as someone's apartment and including all objects of the group exhibition as part of the interior. We joined the group with the recently finished update to our DOPPELHORN speakers.

Instead of presenting the pieces in an unnatural way, like many of the typical white cube exhibitions tend to do, the curation invited visitors to imagine themselves as inhabitants of the space. Therefore, our speakers were a natural inclusion and helped to tie the experience together with an ambient soundtrack.

The team behind everything is comprised of young designers and curators who are mostly based in eastern Germany, just like ourselves. Although we knew some of them beforehand, many new connections were formed and we are looking forward to future crossovers of our practices. More about the exhibition via @yardshedoffice on Instagram.
